Eden

Eden Angling Association.  Excellent trout fishing, the river where I cut my teeth on the dry fly giving me an average of about three fish of 8 to 12ozs per visit, great fun and full of memorable days.

The Eden is about 20 miles long of which the Eden Angling club controls 15 miles. The Upper and Mid sections are almost chalk stream style waters, perfect for dry fly fishing. From below Cupar the river becomes more streamy and while it is still good dry fly water it is also made for wet fly fishing. Visitor permits £8 for a day, £12 for October. Leven

I have known this river since the days when it was little more than an open sewer  offering up a few flounders and eels. I recon I am the guy who landed the very first salmon on the recovering river, hooked by a school pal he freaked out and gave the rod me to land the fish, but that's an other story altogether. So is the one about the day on the Ore when I embarrassed my uncle by taking 3 cracking trout of about 1.5 to 1.75ozs on the dry fly while loosing an other three because I didn't have a landing net. He had a blank that day. The feat was never to be repeated.

Methilhaven & District Angling Association
