Angus

Backwater Reservoir partner to Lintrathen reservoir and built in 1969 is about 4 km long. Holds good stocks of wild brown trout fishing bank only. Permits from the Lintrathen AC in Kirriemuir, call 01575 560327 or 01575 572412

Den of Ogil is a small reservoir about 6 miles north of Forfar. Run by Carnmore AC and stocked with brown trout. Permits are available from W.R. Hardy Gunsmiths in Forfar call 01370 466635.

Loch Lee, wild brown trout on this glacial loch, boats £15 from Dalhousie Estate, call 01356 670208.

Loch Shandra fly fishing on this 22 acre loch bank or boat (2 boats) for wild brown trout to about 1.5lbs supported by some stocking. Permits can be obtained locally, call 01575 582242.

Monikie Country Park Reservoir, O/s Ref 54/505382. Crombie near Dundee, run by the Monikie Angling Club there are three lochs, boat and fly fishing only. North is stocked with rainbows, Island has rainbows and brown trout and Crombie has brown trout only, bookings by telephone to the bailiff on 01382 370300

Piper Dam, O/S ref 53/318319  40 acre loch stocked with brown trout and rainbows, contact Piper Dam Golf and Leisure Resort, Fowlis, Dundee, Angus, DD2 5LP, call 01382 581374.

Rescobie Loch, near Forfar, boat and bank fishing on a 200 acre, relatively shallow loch with brown trout (av 2lbs) and rainbow trout (av 2.25lbs). Record brown 7lb 4ozs, rainbow 17lb 4ozs with bigger fish known to be in the loch. Prices are very reasonable per session with a reduced price for juniors.
