Loch Fitty is on the B912, 3 miles from Dunfermline. This premier fishing complex, open 7 days, caterers for a wide range of angling styles. The main loch is fished by boat, 19 footers with outboards, and from the bank opens on the 31st of march. Teal Bay is a fly only specimen area stocked with fish to double figures and fishes all year. Some years ago I turned up on me tod and took advantage of an offer of reduced rates for a lone angler.
Fishing that evening was dour and frustrating because the water was alive with fish feeding on darkish olive buzzers but they ignored everything being offered. Few boats were getting fish but had six for 12lbs by the greatest twist of luck. I had tied some experimental largish dry greenwells which I found just would not float, at which point a fish confidently snatched the fly.
Looks like the fish were feeding on either emergers or drowned adults, whatever the reason it made my day. Academy bay is a bait water stocked with trout. The range of permit prices is quite extensive but everything is set out on their website, Contact The Lodge, Loch Fitty, Kingseat, Dunfermline, Fife, KY12 0SP, email lochfitty@mail.com Call 01383 620666.
