Dee (Kirkcubright)

The riveris just setting out on the road to recovery with the Hydro EclecticCompany having initiated a restocking programme a couple of yearsago, their view is that the potential of the river is 1000 fish ayear while it has been producing less than a 100. Doinard

Gualin Estate have the fishing on thelength of the river Doinard consisting of six beats on thisCaithness river. Returning 162 salmon averaging 5lb 6ozs and 137 seatrout averaging 2lb 10ozs in 2006 angling prospects are good andwith the Caithness limestone lochs and bass fishing in the Kyle thevisiting angler can have a great visit over a 7 day stay.

In addition to the river fishing for trout isalso available on Loch Sgeireach.

The Loch fishing on the shallow 65acre Loch Doinard.

Yorks a rugged beat of crystal clearwater.

Shein Faire a wider stream with 4 namedpools; Salmon Pool, Rosemary's Pool, Willow Pool and Shein Faire.

Heather Point reconned to be the mostproductive beat with six named pools: Heather Point, Grilse Pool,Upper Bend, Danes and Stone Pool.

The Flat Pool and Craggies startingwith the slack water Flat Pool, the beat transforms into a ruggedbeat through Green Point, Upper Craggie, Mcphersons and MiddleCraggie.

Rhigolter challenging fishing throughCraggie Potholes, The Otter Pool, Gaulin Burn, the Raven, Taghan andthe Island Pool. Anglers rotate through the six beats duringthe week. Char can be taken on Loch Stack and Loch More (you must havea ghillie on Stack because of the dangerous submerged rocks). Salmonfrom June onwards, mostly grilse. Doon

A very productive riverwith some 1500 salmon recorded a year. The river enters the sea justsouth of Ayr after flowing 23 miles from Loch Doon. Like otherAyrshire rivers the Doon is primarily a back end river with the bestof the fishing on September and October.

Doonfoot 2 miles of water, average annual catch 380, weeks available, call07968 071554, prices £300 July, £420 Aug, £500 Sept Oct. They have ashort but very productive season at Doonfoot - July to October. 3fish max bag fly, spinning and worm permitted.

Dunbeath
