Bank House Fly Fishery Low Mill Catton nr Lancaster is a mature fishery of 2.5 acres beautifully designed and maintained so that its setting looks natural, heated lodge for anglers to shelter in. Coniston Hall Coniston Cold near Skipton, off the A65 near Gargrave. A 24 acre man made lake fishery up to 30 feet deep located in a parkland stocked with rainbows and holding wild brown trout. Boat and bank fishing available call 01756 748080.

Dawney Estates near Scarborough offer fishing on two lakes, Wykeham Lake and Causeway Lake.

Wykeham Lake is a 7.5 acre clear water lake up to 27 feet deep. Bank and boat fishing available, there are 6 boats. Stocked with fish of 2.5lbs upwards the fishery record stands at 17.75lbs. 3 fish ticket £20, sporting ticket £14, boats £10 per day. Call 07946 534001.

Causeway Lake is 9 acres in size but due to the many bays and promontories it has 1.5 miles of bank. A sporting ticket only for this lake, which is stocked with browns, blues and rainbows from 1.5 to 10lbs, costs £20. Call 07946 534001.

Embsay Reservoir a 30 acre lake stocked with rainbows and brown trout, open all year, permits £11 per day and £28 per week from the Post Office in Embsay. Contact info@skiptonangling.co.uk

Helwith Bridge Fishery Stainforth near Settle is 4.5 acre clear water spring fed fishery of up to 30 feet deep stocked with triploid rainbows, blues and golden trout of 2 to 14lbs. Kiplin Hall on the B6257 between Scorton and Northallerton a 30 acre lake set in parkland stocked with browns, blues, goldens and rainbows. Contact Brian Morland on 01677 470716.

Kinsley Park, located in the Yorkshire Dales Kinsley Park offers fly only fishing on two lakes of approximately one acre fishing for rainbows stocked at 1.5lbs to 12lbs which are bred in their own fish farm. Malham Tarn near the village of Malham, a National Trust fishery offering boat only fishing for wild brown trout in this fertile but exposed water. Call 01729 830658.

Pickering Lake, Newbridge Rd, Pickering. A clear spring fed fishery of about 4 acres half of which is available to bait anglers who must kill their fish and pay the fish farm price. The other half is catch and release fly fishing. Well stocked with fish in the 2 to 3lb range. Ticket price is kept down due to the C & R policy. Call 01751 474219 for bookings

Raygill Fisheries Lotherdale N Yorkshire two of 4 lakes for trout fishing in this disused quarry. Quarry lake is stocked with rainbows, brown trout, goldens, blues and Arctic Char, best brown 15lbs 5ozs best rainbow 22lbs 8ozs. Delf Lake offers an interesting mix of fly fishing for trout and for pike (the record pike from Delf lake is 37lbs but while netting course fish recently several 40lb plus fish were caught and returned). Boats are available free of charge but please pre book. Only rainbows can be killed all other fish must be returned. Tickets cost £2 per hour for catch and release or £12 per day and rainbows that are taken are charge at £3.85 per kilo. Call 01535 632500.

Rippon Fly Fishers have fly fishing on 5 still waters ranging from 1 to 5 acres in size. Fishing is for members and guests only but the annual fee is very good, just £160 per year (plus a one off joining fee of £60). Waters stocked with browns and rainbows to 5lbs and 12lbs respectively. Scar House Reservoir Niddersdale AC manage the fishing on Scar House and a stretch of the river Nidd famed for it's dry fly fishing. Visitor permits cost £10 per day for the reservoir and £12 if you want to include the stretches of river available to visitors. Wild browns in the reservoir and browns and grayling in the river. Permits from the Pet Pad, caravan park and post office in Pateley Bridge.

Star Carr Trout Fishery Hemphome Lane Brandesburton E Yorkshire, 4.6 acre spring fed trout fishery holding browns, blues, rainbows and Arctic char. There is a shop, toilets and a shower. Fishery open all year, permits under £20 for 4 fish, call 01964 543466 for full information.

Stocks Reservoir Slaidburn near Clitheroe, 350 acre lake at the head of the Hodder Valley offering boat and bank fishing for browns, rainbows and blues. Reports for stocks are good with one bag of 5 for 20lbs recorded recently. Fishing is from 8am to dusk. Stonebridge Fishing Lake Little Fencote nr Northallerton two trout lakes and one carp lake (stocked with fish to 30lbs). The trout lakes are Hergill approx 7 acres holding rainbows and brown trout (good for parent and child and also reasonable access for disabled persons) and the Specimen lake, approx 3 acres, stocked with minimum size fish of 3lbs with fish up 20lbs and browns to 6lbs. Permits cost; Specimen Lake (advanced booking is essential as there a a limited number of rods allowed) £20 per day (keep the first fish then C & R for 7 more fish) or evenings £2.50 per hour C & R only; Hergill £16 per day 1 fish then C&R. Swinsty, Fewston and Thuscross Reservoirs three reservoir to fish all for the price of one permit. Located on the A59 near Harrogate the reservoirs are stock with rainbows from 1.5lbs to 8lbs and hold good stocks of wild brownies. Fishing is from 7.30am to dusk, there is a lodge and toilets facilities including facilities for disabled person. Permits cost £13 with concessions available. call 01943 880658.

Tanfield Lodge near Rippon is a former gravel pit matured into a natural looking lake of 11.5 acres. Water is gin clear up to 30 feet deep in places. Stocked with rainbows and brown trout, there is a lodge and loo. Call 01677 470385 for bookings.

Thryburgh Country Park Rotherham, value for money fishing on a 100 year old fishery stocked twice monthly with rainbows of from 12" to 2lb 4ozs with a few doubles. Float Tubes can be hired from the Lodge. Call 01709 850353.

Walton Hall Trout Fishery near Wakefield is a 25 acre lake offering bank and boat fishing for rainbow trout and brown trout. Walton hall has a wheelyboat. Call 01924 242990.

Aire

Coniston Hall has 1 mile of good fly fishing water for wild brown trout to over two pounds. Call 01756 748080 for further information.

Skipton AA have fishing for brown trout (stocked annually) and grayling, 1.5 miles on the Skipton bank and 2.5 miles on the Carleton bank, £6 per day from the Paper Shop in Sunmoon Drive, Skipton. Contact info@skiptonangling.co.uk

Calder recovering after £2 million anti pollution clean up there is fishing on the Calder, permits from Calder Angling Supplies call 01484 711603.

Costa Beck (west bank only) three miles of fishing 1.5 miles upstream from Kirby Misperton, trout with occasional salmon, £6 per day, call 01751 460207.

Driffield West Beck

Mulberry - Whins day tickets, one mile double bank on this famous Yorkshire chalk stream. Ticket prices range from £45 in April to £60 in May / July, there is also an evening rise ticket valid from 5pm for £25. call 01377 254073 / 249273.

Esk

Danby, salmon and trout fishing near Danby, permits from the Danby Post office, call 01287 660220.

Dawney Estate has several miles of fishing from Castleton downstream for salmon, sea trout and brown trout at incredibly reasonable prices, £12 for the season, £3 for a day ticket for brown trout and £6 for salmon. Call 07946 534001.

Nidd

Niddersdale AC, 100 years old this year, have 7 miles of the river Nidd fishing for brown trout and grayling. They offer day tickets on three stretches of river one up stream of Pateley Bridge, one down stream from Pateley Bridge and one at Dacre Banks. They also have fishing on Scar House Reservoir at the head of Niddersdale. Permits cost £10 per day, £30 per week, (£5 / £15 for juniors) for the river, £6 for grayling (juniors free) and £8 per day for the reservoir (juniors £3). Permits from the Post Office, Pet Pad and the caravan park in Pateley Bridge, the PO in Lofthouse and from the Royal Oak in Dacre Banks.

Swale

Catterick two miles of fishing on the Swale, permits from the newsagent in Catterick.

Richmond and District Angling Society have 14 miles of double bank fishing for grayling and brown trout from Marske to Great Langton. Bonny stretch of water but watch out for flash floods I have seen this river rise very quickly. Call Gilsan Sport in Richmond for further information on 01748 822108.

Ure

Bainbridge, Wensleydale AA have fly fishing for brown trout and grayling in upper Wensleydale including the river Bain (which holds some exceptional bream too). Permits from the Rose and Crown in Bainbridge, call 01969 650225.

Hawes, Hawes and High Abbotside AA have 15 miles of fishing on the Ure and its tributaries for browns and grayling upstream from Bainbridge, permits £14 per day from the Three Peaks shop Hawes, call 01969 667443.

Aysgarth Bradford City AA offer season tickets for the fishing here which cost about £30 plus a small one off joining fee, bit of a bargain as this also includes fishing on the Aire with grayling to 3lbs and Wharfe. Wharfe

Bolton Abbey, 4.5 miles fly only double bank fishing in the Chatsworth House Estate from Kex Beck, Beamsley to the Aqueduct at Barden, 4 fish limit (10" size limit) then catch and release using barbless hooks at all times, fishing from 9am to one hour after sunset.Permits from the Estate Office at Bolton Abbey issued from 9am to 10.30am cost £25 per day, £10 for juniors accompanied by an adult or £300 per season. Barnsall, Applewick, Barden and Bursall AC water, 7 miles upstream from Bolton Abbey beat, offer limited access to day ticket anglers (no days in March, April, May and October or weekends in June or September). Permits from the Red Lion, £30 per day (£10 1st Nov - 31st Jan), call 01756 720204.
