Brick Farm Lakes near Herstmonceux consists of two lakes totalling 5 acres. Permits cost £11 for 2 fish to £25 for 6 fish, a self service system for issuing permits is in operation and permits are for 24 hours. Call 01323 832615 for further information.

 

Darwell Reservoir, near Sedlescombe, run by Hasting Fly Fishers Club, this 180 acre fishery hold wild brown trout and is stocked with rainbows. Good fly life including mayfly. Bank, boats and wheely boat available, call 01580 880407.

 

Powdermill Reservoir near Sedlescombe. Built in 1932 this 56 acre reservoir offers great value fishing for high quality rainbow trout. Powdermill is run by the Hasting Fly Fishers Club who offer season and day ticket fishing at £18.50 for 6 fish, boats just 10 per day and juniors under 16 fish free when accompanied by a day ticket holder or member. Yew Tree Trout Fishery Rotherfield, 3 lakes especially designed for fly fishing in a two wooded gullies in the High Weald. A rather beautiful looking fisheryOne lake is brown trout only. Call 01892 662982.

 

Essex

 

Chigboro Fishery, near Maldon consisting of 4 lakes ranging from 1 acre to 17 acres stocked with rainbows, browns and salmon, including some big fish (best fish over 19lbs), day and season tickets, bank and boat fishing with good disabled access.

 

Clavering Lake 7 miles from Saffron Walden consists of 5 lakes one of which is a trout fishery the other 4 being course fisheries including a specimen carp pool. Call 01799 550261 or 01799 551213 for the lodge.

 

Bean Bere hold rainbows, browns and salmon (minimum 3.5lbs). Home Water is the biggest at 17 acres, stocked with rainbow, browns and blues averaging 2lb 10ozs, 4 boats plus a wheelie boat. Rook Hall is 7 acres with two boats stocked the same as Home Water. Catch and release all year. Priory is designed for beginners at 1 acre, heavily stocked with fish of 1 to 1.5lbs to make it possible for beginners to have a real chance of catching.   Call 01621 857368.

 

Hanningfield near Chelmsford just 30 miles from London, 600 acres reservoir fishery renowned for its policy of stocking with big fish with several double figure fish taken every week. Call 01245 212031.

 

Thornwood Trout Fishery, Carpenters Arms lane, Thornwood, Epping is a spring fed fishery stocked with brown and rainbow trout.
