Tweed, the Tweed holds good stocks of course fish, the Scottish record dace was caught here at Coldstream.

Dumbartonshire
River Leven, large shoals of dace as well as perch, roach, pike and eels. Fishing is free for course fish.
Dumfries and Galloway
Annan, some quality chub fishing. For fishing at Newbie, call 01461 202608.
Clyde, good fishing in the lower reaches below Dalmarnock Bridge down to the tidal reaches. Roach, dace in large shoals, bream, perch, eels, chub, barbel. Fishing is free within the city limits.
River Ken near Dalry. The Darly AA have a 1.5 mile stretch of river offering brown trout and perch fishing, 4 fish limit but any method except live bait. Permits £5 per day for 4 fish limit. Call 01644 430539.
West Bank below Ken Bridge, brown trout, pike and perch. £5 a day, permits from Hopkins Grocers in new Galloway. Watch out for sudden rises in water levels when the Hydro scheme is generating.
Lanarkshire

Perthshire

Tay, at Perth. Good fishing for large roach around Perth Harbour and in the tidal reaches of the river although there are course fish throughout the length of the Tay but salmon fishing interests seriously restrict access.
Perth & District Angling Association offer permits for course fishing on several stretches of the river, permits from Mallochs in Perth, Ballinluig Inn, Kettles in Dunkeld.

Stirlingshire
River Forth, dace, roach, pike, perch. Good fishing in the tidal reaches around Stirling. Permits from D. Crocketts, Stirling, 01786 465517.
Canals
Forth and Clyde Canal, after completion of a £78 million reinstatement project the Forth and Clyde canal is in excellent condition offering fishing along its 35 mile length from Glasgow to Grangemouth. There is good fishing for roach, rudd, gudgeon, carp, pike, perch, and excellent tench. The Firhill Basin in Glasgow is noted for serious carp with fish over the 20lb mark being taken. Fishing is administered by the Lowland Canal Angling Partnership, permits cost £15 for the season or £3 for a day. Call 01324 671217.

Monklands Canal, Drumpellier Park, Coatbridge. Large elusive carp and bream. Check with the rangers office for permission.
