Hawick Angling Club have extensive fishing for salmon, sea trout, brown trout and grayling as well as fishing for brown and rainbow trout on nearby lochs. The river fishing includes the Ale and Slitrig although the salmon fishing is on the 10 miles of the Teviot over 3 beats of double bank fishing. Fishing on Acreknowe and Akermoor loch. Contact E.J. Helmsdale Angling Association Water

Daily and weekly salmon tickets are available on the Town Water. There is an opportunity to fish anywhere on this prestigious river on the first two days of the season, 11th and 12th of January, free of charge.
