Helmsdale Angling Association Water, daily and weekly tickets are available on the Town Water. There is an opportunity to fish anywhere on this prestigious river on the first two days of the season, 11th and 12th of January, free of charge.
Kilchoan Estate in Knoydart offer salmon and sea trout fishing on the river Inverie, a small spate river flowing from its source in Loch Dubhlochan for 4 miles into Loch Nevis. Fly only, single handed rods traditional flies, except during a spate and catch and release for salmon and sea trout. The river is on the up and up after a 5 year programme of restocking with fingerling fly.16 named pools with the deep Long pool favoured in low water. Sea trout start in June, grilse follow late June into July. Salmon runs are very much dependent on spates. Permits from Kilchoan estate include Loch Dubhlochna which holds trout, char and ferox, cost £50 per day £200 per week. Call 01687 462724.

Laggan
Drumlossit Estate have fishing on the Upper Laggan, call 01496 810232 and Laggan Estate have the lower 5 miles of the river beats, call 01496 810212.
Stornoway Angling Association, salmon and sea trout on rivers and lochs in the area. Day tickets available, senior £12 plus (£5 refundable deposit when you make your catch return), junior and evening £10 plus deposit. There is good sea trout fishing in the sea and sea lochs and float tubing is popular, but do not float tube alone in the sea. Portree Angling Association have a selection of rivers and lochs in west central Skye offering wild brown trout fish and fishing for salmon and sea trout on a number of spate rivers. The rivers are the Ose, fly only, mostly sea trout, which is best after a spate down near the sea end, the Kilmaluig River where you can fish fly, spinner or bait and the rivers Lealt, Kilmartin and Brodgaig. Uig Area Gordon Mackenzie at the Uig filling Station has permits for fishing on Loch Mor and for the rivers Rha. Conon and Hinnisdale. About £8 for the loch and £12 for the rivers which are spate rivers with some salmon and sea trout after a spate. The Conon is rated for trout. call 01470 542420.
Inver Lodge Hotel Inver, upper and lower beats, £95 (in 2006), Kirkaig, upper, middle and lower, 26th July to 15th October, £95 (2006), fishing on the Kirkaig Estuary, July to September, £10.
The Kyle of Sutherland is at the western end of the Dornoch Firth formed by the confluence of 4 great salmon rivers, Shin, Cassley, Oykel and Carron. 12 miles of fishing with a particularly nice stretch of river fly water at Bonar Bridge just on the tidal reaches of the Firth. Permits for the Kyle of Sutherland Angling Association water from the newsagent, Bonar Bridge, 01863766316 or from R MacLeod (hardware), Tain call 01862 892171, under £20 a day for fishing on water where over 400 salmon and 250 sea trout are taken each year.

Fishing comes available very rarely on the Laxford, call 0131 476 6500, just in case. The Laxford is one of those Highland rivers that looks 'made for the purpose', peat stained water, tumbling runs, dark pools surrounded by stunning scenery - a quintessential Victorian gentleman's river.
Back end salmon and sea trout plus brown trout and rainbows on the Methilhaven & District Angling Association fishing on the river Leven from the Tullis Russell Bridge at Glenrothes to the sea at Leven. Permits from The village Store Windygates, call 01333 350319.
A short river which drains the Blackwater Reservoir run by the Kinlochleven Angling Association, no contact details available at this time.
4 beats over 8 miles, 38 named pools, fished on a rotation basis by 4 parties, catch and release encouraged as this river undergoes a recovery with signs of a return of the larger fish for which the Lochy was once famous. call 01397 722355.
Elgin and District Angling Club controls the lower 10 miles of the river Lossie. Average catch 100 salmon pa and 400 sea trout. Permits from the Tackle Shop, 88, High Street, Elgin.
Rugged little river in Dumfries and Galloway, two beats on Glentrool Estate, Bottom Beat (2.75 miles) and Top Beat (1.75 miles). Prices £15 for the Bottom beat and £25 for both beats, 2 fish limit. Contact Chris on 01671 840275.
3 miles of fishing on this pretty but small spate river, all Kinlochmoidart House on 01967 431609.
The river must be about the shortest in Scotland flowing from Loch Morar for just a few hundred yards over a water fall and under a railway viaduct and the main road to Mallaig. Such a lot packed into such a tiny river outflow of a loch that rivals Loch Ness for its great depth and stories of monsters. Call 01687 462388 boat bookings on the loch.

Nairn Angling Club control the lower nine miles of the river Nairn.
Excellent fly water available. In recent years salmon catches have
been first class with returns in the 1000+ range. Sadly the sea
trout have been in serious decline in line with returns on other
east coast and northern rivers.

The Ness is only 6 miles long flowing from Dochfour by Loch Ness, however it is a sizeable being the outflow from the loch. The season is now 1st February to October 15th.
Inverness Angling Club, The lower three miles of the Ness from the estuary to the Clachnahagaig Stone at Red Braes are controlled by the Inverness Angling Club. Visitors tickets are available at £15 per day up to 31st May and 1st June onwards £30. Permits from Grahams Tackle Shop, Castle St, Inverness. Call 01463 233178.

Mid Nithsdale Angling Association. Salmon and sea trout on 3.5 miles mostly double bank, 18 named pools. Daily permits (£25, Feb - May, £40 June - Aug, £45 Sept - Nov); 3 day ( £65, £95 and £115); and weekly permits (£130, £190 and £230) (max 12 per day) plus a spring / summer night fishing ticket for sea trout (£30 6pm to 6am).
