The Laxford is one of those Highland rivers that looks 'made for the purpose', peat stained water, tumbling runs, dark pools surrounded by stunning scenery - a quintessential Victorian gentleman's river. Back end salmon and sea trout plus brown trout and rainbows on the Methilhaven & District Angling Association fishing on the river Leven from the Tullis Russell Bridge at Glenrothes to the sea at Leven. A short river which drains the Blackwater Reservoir run by the Kinlochleven Angling Association, no contact details available at this time. 4 beats over 8 miles, 38 named pools, fished on a rotation basis by 4 parties, catch and release encouraged as this river undergoes a recovery with signs of a return of the larger fish for which the Lochy was once famous. call 01397 722355. Elgin and District Angling Club controls the lower 10 miles of the river Lossie. Average catch 100 salmon pa and 400 sea trout. Permits from the Tackle Shop, 88, High Street, Elgin. Rugged little river in Dumfries and Galloway, two beats on Glentrool Estate, Bottom Beat (2.75 miles) and Top Beat (1.75 miles). Prices £15 for the Bottom beat and £25 for both beats, 2 fish limit. Contact Chris on 01671 840275. 3 miles of fishing on this pretty but small spate river, all Kinlochmoidart House on 01967 431609. The river must be about the shortest in Scotland flowing from Loch Morar for just a few hundred yards over a water fall and under a railway viaduct and the main road to Mallaig. Such a lot packed into such a tiny river outflow of a loch that rivals Loch Ness for its great depth and stories of monsters. Call 01687 462388 boat bookings on the loch. Nairn Angling Club control the lower nine miles of the river Nairn.
Excellent fly water available. In recent years salmon catches have
been first class with returns in the 1000+ range. Sadly the sea
trout have been in serious decline in line with returns on other
east coast and northern rivers.

The Ness is only 6 miles long flowing from Dochfour by Loch Ness, however it is a sizeable being the outflow from the loch. The season is now 1st February to October 15th.
