Isle of Bute

Loch Fad, Summer Special Offer Save £8 - July and August Only - Juniors fish for free when accompanied by an adult paying for a £17 day ticket. A beautiful fishery of 175 acres set in an area classified as an SSSI with a plantation of Douglas Firs dating date to the 1840’s. The loch is long and narrow with a maximum depth of 36 feet. There are 30 boats with 4 hp outboard motors. Fishing is fly only (except at the North End where bait and spinning is allowed from the bank). The best fishing is the south end of the loch. Stocked with rainbows from one and a quarter pounds to a whopping 18lbs. Day tickets £17 for 10 (£12 for 4 hours or 6 fish) fish is a fantastic offer when you see the quality of the stock, boats £12 week days and £14 weekends. Loch Quein wild and stocked brown trout in this 90 acre loch, fly only 3 fish limit. £10 per day (juniors £4), boats £5 per day. Contact Rothesay Angling and Outdoor, Albert Place, Rothesay.

Isle of Lewis

Stornoway Angling Association, Salmon, Sea Trout, Brown Trout char on rivers and lochs in the area. Day tickets available, senior £12 plus (£5 refundable deposit when you make your catch return), junior and evening £10 plus deposit. There is good sea trout fishing in the sea and sea lochs and float tubing is popular, but do not do it alone in the sea. Isle of Mull

Tobermory Angling Association, have fishing on: Loch Frisa, bank only at £3 per day; Mishnish Loch for wild brown trout up to 4lbs, bank and boat, fly only, permits cost £10 per day and £30 per week, boats £5 for 4 hours or £12 all day; Lake Aros in the Forestry Park near Tobermory bank only for rainbows trout. Isle of Skye

Loch Bharabhaig and Loch na Dubhraichean, lochs stocked with brown trout, fly only, there are some char on Dubhriachean. Permits from Eilean Iarmain Hotel, Sleat, call 01471 833332 (Lochs Loch a Alasgach, Loch an Eilean, and Dubh Lochan are also available fishing any legal method). 

Portree Angling Association have a selection of rivers and lochs in west central Skye offering wild brown trout fish and fishing for salmon and sea trout on a number of spate rivers. The lochs are Cuithir Loch, Loch Luiravay, Loch Hasco, Loch Langaig, Loch Fada, Loch Droighinn, Loch Snaesdal, Loch Cleap, Loch Corcasgil, Loch Duhbah-sgoth, Leum na Luirginn, Loch Cleat, Mealt Loch, Storr Lochs recommended that you don't bother with the shallow south end (disabled access in one of the boats, Loch Leathan, Lochan a Bhealach-Bhig, Loch Scamadal. Uig Area Gordon Mackenzie at the Uig filling Station has permits for fishing on Loch Mor and for the rivers Rha. Conon and Hinnisdale. About £8 for the loch and £12 for the rivers which are spate rivers with some salmon and sea trout after a spate. The Conon is rated for trout. call 01470 542420.

Loch Dallas, yes the Dallas that Dallas Texas was named after - just a little bit smaller. Rainbow trout fishing with one boat for two rods, permits from Mortimers in Grantown call 01479 872684.

Loch Mhor, just off the road running between Dulnian Bridge and Carrbridge, brown trout and rainbow trout, boat only as the banks are very marshy and over grown, permits from Mortimers in Grantown 01479 872684.

Loch Morlich at the foot of Cairngorm, is despite the tourism it attracts, is a stunning loch holding stocks of wild brown trout and some salmon. It also has some very scary pike, I often fear for the bathers in summer, if only they knew. Permits from Glenmore Lodge, call 01479 861256.

Loch Leven Quite possibly the most famous fishing loch in the world the distinctly speckled, almost sea trout like, stock from here has been used to populate lochs and rivers all over the world. Historic, beautiful and challenging this loch is a must fish. Loch Leven has stopped stocking with rainbows which means that in time the loch will be a pure brown trout water again. Lochindorb Lodge -

NairnShire

Lochindorb, free bank fishing for free rising wild brown trout (and the occasional salmon) on this historic loch high in the moor lands between Grantown on Spey and Nairn. Boats can be hired from the the Lodge, call 01386 610496.

North Lanark

Banton Loch, 1 mile from Kilsyth this loch, which was connected to the Forth and Clyde canal to supply water for this major water way, now offers trout fishing for brown trout and rainbows. Stocked bi annually the loch allows both bait and fly fishing from the bank only. Permits from the Covenanter Service Station, Stirling Road, Kilsyth, call 01236 821582.
