Blithfield Fishery is a 790 acre reservoir formerly run by Staffordshire Water but now in the hands of a not for profit organisation, Blithfleid Anglers. The fishery have 7 miles of bank, 26 boats and an estimated stock of about 30,000 fish, it is stocked with fish of 1.25 to 10lbs. Fishing is fly only. The fishery also has a stock of very big pike which can be fished for with the fly, the fishery has produced 6 fish of over 40lbs in recent years! Season tickets only, call 01283 840284. River Dove the famous fishing haunt of Walton and Cotton. Wild brown trout and grayling in this famous limestone stream from the Izaak Walton Hotel who have 3 miles of fishing on the Staffordshire bank from IIam Rock to the junction with the Manifold river. Gailey Trout Fishery is a decent sized reservoir offering fishing for rainbow, browns and blues in a varied environment of gravely shallows, deeps of the dam (approx 20') and sheltered areas around the 3 islands. Stocked with rainbows, browns and blues in the range 1.5lbs to 10lbs.Good buzzer and sedges, damsels do well and the course fish fry in the summer can bring the trout right on to the feed. Burton Springs Fishery nr Bridgewater, 2 lakes one with carp to 30lb the other with trout stocked from 2lbs, call 01275 732125. Chew Valley opened in 1956 is impressive and challenging at 1200 acres. Created over fertile farm land this shallow lake (av depth 14 feet, max at the dam 35 feet) offers great fly fishing as a result of the abundant aquatic life. Bank and boat fishing, boats £29.50 boat £13.50 per day (there are 32 boats but booking in advance is advised).
Exe Valley Fishery Exebridge near Dulverton, 3 lakes stocked with rainbows two of which are fly only plus half a mile of the river Exe fishing for wild brown trout, salmon and sea trout. Call 01398 323328. Knowles (Bristol ) Angling Association control fishing on a number of still waters and rivers. The lakes are Chew Magna, a reservoir or about 5 acres stocked with Rainbows and brown trout, Ackers a man made trout fishery open all year fishing for rainbows and brown trout and Publow a small stream fed trout lake stocked with rainbows and browns which is open all year. The river beats consist of Upper and Lower Chew. Upper consists of 1.5 miles of beautiful weedy water just asking to be fished with the dry fly, Lower has undergone considerable improvement work to open out the pool and hold wild browns, grayling and rainbows. Fishing on lower Chew is by any legal method. The club also has a half mile on the river Yeo fishing any method for browns and rainbows and a stretch of the Wellow Brook offering challenging wild life fly fishing on a clear water tree lined stream. Fisherwich Trout Lake near Litchfield, a twelve acre lake (part of course / trout fishery) stocked with Rainbows, Brown trout and Blues ranging from 1.75lbs to doubles. The lake averages about 8 feet deep however there are two hot spots with deep water one of the Woodside Bank where it is 10 - 12 feet deep, good in the winter and off the oak tree on the Lodge Bank. There is also a shallow area between the island where the water is about 3 feet deep. Day Ticket cost £20 for 5 fish then C & R or £10 for a sporting ticket. Arlington Reservoir, Berwick nr Polegate, with fishing the only recreation allowed on the reservoir anglers can have undisturbed fishing on this 120 acre lake. South East Water should be congratulated for offering great value fishing with membership at £45 giving a discount on day tickets. There are a number of day ticket options, 8 fish for £20 is great value but if you are a member the cost fall to £14! There are boats available. Kinsley Park, located in the Yorkshire Dales Kinsley Park offers fly only fishing on two lakes of approximately one acre fishing for rainbows stocked at 1.5lbs to 12lbs which are bred in their own fish farm. Raygill Fisheries Lotherdale N Yorkshire two of 4 lakes for trout fishing in this disused quarry. Quarry lake is stocked with rainbows, brown trout, goldens, blues and Arctic Char, best brown 15lbs 5ozs best rainbow 22lbs 8ozs. Delf Lake offers an interesting mix of fly fishing for trout and for pike (the record pike from Delf lake is 37lbs but while netting course fish recently several 40lb plus fish were caught and returned). Swinsty, Fewston and Thuscross Reservoirs three reservoir to fish all for the price of one permit. Located on the A59 near Harrogate the reservoirs are stock with rainbows from 1.5lbs to 8lbs and hold good stocks of wild brownies. Fishing is from 7.30am to dusk, there is a lodge and toilets facilities including facilities for disabled person. Permits cost £13 with concessions available. call 01943 880658. Niddersdale AC, 100 years old this year, have 7 miles of the river Nidd fishing for brown trout and grayling. They offer day tickets on three stretches of river one up stream of Pateley Bridge, one down stream from Pateley Bridge and one at Dacre Banks. They also have fishing on Scar House Reservoir at the head of Niddersdale. Permits cost £10 per day, £30 per week, (£5 / £15 for juniors) for the river, £6 for grayling (juniors free) and £8 per day for the reservoir (juniors £3). Permits from the Post Office, Pet Pad and the caravan park in Pateley Bridge, the PO in Lofthouse and from the Royal Oak in Dacre Banks. Skirfare Arncliffe 4 miles of day ticket water, permits from the Falcon Inn (call in advance) 01756 770205. Swale Catterick two miles of fishing on the Swale, permits from the newsagent in Catterick. Richmond and District Angling Society have 14 miles of double bank fishing for grayling and brown trout from Marske to Great Langton. Ure Bainbridge, Wensleydale AA have fly fishing for brown trout and grayling in upper Wensleydale including the river Bain (which holds some exceptional bream too). Bolton Abbey, 4.5 miles fly only double bank fishing in the Chatsworth House Estate from Kex Beck, Beamsley to the Aqueduct at Barden, 4 fish limit (10" size limit) then catch and release using barbless hooks at all times, fishing from 9am to one hour after sunset.Permits from the Estate Office at Bolton Abbey issued from 9am to 10.30am cost £25 per day, £10 for juniors accompanied by an adult or £300 per season. Barnsall, Applewick, Barden and Bursall AC water, 7 miles upstream from Bolton Abbey beat, offer limited access to day ticket anglers (no days in March, April, May and October or weekends in June or September).
